Mr. Kirk Sykes is a transformational leader and consultant with a proven record in school turnaround and transformation. He has spent the last four years building the capacity of school leaders in Metro Atlanta where those leaders have experienced their greatest gains in student achievement and college readiness to date.

This includes dramatic turnaround work such as 7 Beating the Odds Schools, 5 Distinguished Title 1 schools, 2 STEM School Certifications and the highest graduation rates in the learning community’s history. He is an expert in leveraging school culture, secondary literacy, data driven instruction and collaboration structures to transform underperforming schools and take mediocre performers from good to great. He is skilled in helping to create district and school level conditions that cement positive and sustainable organizational change.

Mr. Sykes has a long list of professional accomplishments as a school leader. Chief among them are two Principal of the year distinctions: College Bound Foundation Principal of the Year in 2012, and National Foundation of Teaching Entrepreneurship Principal of the Year in 2011. He was a Roberts Award Winner for School Innovation in 2013. Mayors Award Winner for School Turnaround in 2014.

He has appeared on CNN Perry’s Principles with Steve Perry and served on the boards of New Leaders Maryland and the first school leader to establish a Career Tech Sister School Relationship with a school in main land china that resulted in 2 separate trips of students to visit china.
